Calling all expats who want to work and not stay at home. How I managed to develop a business in Munich without speaking the language- an expat's story.

My name is Elissa Jelowicki and I am a UK qualified solicitor by trade. I was sick of trying to keep up with the London rat race - working really hard and not seeing the rewards. My partner is German and we did the whole "long - distance thing", for a year. However, I slowly realized that I also wanted more out of my life and knew how much I loved Munich, so I took a major leap, handed in my notice, packed up my flat, and moved to Munich without a job. How did I feel? Excited, nervous, questioning my decision, and yet satisfied and happy that I was embarking on a new adventure. For the first time, I did not know where or when the next pay cheque was coming.

When I arrived I was I was lucky to enough to find freelance work. However, this was not enough to pay the bills. I therefore began to look for opportunities to increase my income. Despite thinking of tons of weird and wacky ideas in order to do so, nothing I could come up with was ever actually a good business idea nor could I actually afford to start a business myself. That is - until the day I was introduced to a company that successfully trades in more than 150 countries; is Cash rich, debt free, and has more than US$1.5 billion in assets; and a worldwide turnover in excess of US$2.5 billion; and with a DSA award winning and training support program.
The best thing for me about being an expat and getting involved with the business is that you can come from any background, you can work from home (in other countries as well) and it gets you out meeting people, learning German and keeps you busy as an expat in the city whilst your spouse or partner are out working. In addition, I now have the option to create my own business with virtually no start up capital and all the help I could ever need. This has allowed me to be independent, not only financially but socially as well.
It is a perfect opportunity for expats out there who are looking for something to do. If you want to get in touch and would like more information, please email me.
